One month old and One busy older brother

Here are a few updated photos of Landon. So far he has been a wonderful addition to the family. During the day, he has been so easy. I don't think I could of asked for a better baby. Yet, when the sun goes down, a little wide-eyed monster appears. This monster loves to stay up and be held. He will even cast a spell on you into thinking he is sleeping, but as soon as you lay him down the spell breaks and he will howl until you pick him up. This has caused me to age quite quickly due to lack of sleep. I am also finding it harder to be patient with my two other sweet children. Luckily I am starting to see the end of this pattern. Last night was the first time I only woke up once between the hours of 1:00 am (that is when I finally got him to sleep) and 7:15 am. Prior to that I have been waking up 2-3 and sometimes 4 times in a night. That kid is lucky that he was sent to a mom who usually operates well with little sleep. Hopefully my stamina will make it through this next month. Well, since I am not sleeping at night I try to make it up during naptime. Sometimes this works, when it doesn’t this is why...

I awoke to find Carter had gotten into my makeup. He decided his eyelashes and his whole body needed to make a statement. He also felt that the carpet and the walls would look better with some mascara too.

This is what happened the following afternoon

Carter used a chair to get into my arts and crafts closet and proceeded to have a stamp and ink party, but no stamps were involved only the ink pad. He decorated the walls with fingerprints and painted the carpet in his bedroom a bright blue. Along with his artistic flair that day, he also took care of some business and than took off his dirty diaper and continued on with his playtime. I awoke to my blue boy and walls/carpets with blue ink and traces of brown pooh. The mess took over 4 hours to clean. Needless to say, I need to figure out a better way to keep Carter in his room or just forgo taking a nap. I have tried many different methods, but lately he has figured them out or his partner in crime (Riley) breaks him out. I am glad the boy is smart and his sister loves him, I just wish they would enjoy a nap as much as I would.

Welcome baby Landon!

Well, it has been forever since I have posted anything. My main reason I stopped was due to our computer acting up. Well, since our last post alot has happened, but the most special thing is the arrival of our 3rd baby. Landon Robert Metzgar was born wedensday Dec. 23. He weighed 7 lbs 9oz and was 20.5 inches. We are so excited to bring our little one home and we were glad that he was healthy enough to only stay one day. Even though I did enjoy the quiet moments at the hospital, I really wanted to be home for Christmas eve. So far Riley just loves being a big sister whereas Carter is so busy right now, I dont know if he realizes that Landon is here to stay. This next year will be busy with 3, but I look forward to this adventure in life.

LIfe is finally starting to settle down after the Holidays

As always, it has been a while since my last post. I had planned on posting as soon as we came home from visiting family in CA, but the night we came home we found out that our house we were renting was foreclosed two days earlier. Our landlord gave us no indication that this was even a possibility and even told us after the fact, that there is no way the house was auctioned off. Well, the past few weeks I have been trying to figure out when we had to be out of the house before a sheriff evicts us, and how do we cut our losses from this hassle. It has been such a pain and honestly, I feel like I waste so much of my time moving and unpacking. After this move, we will have moved 4 times in the last 3 years. I don't know how those involved with the military move as often as they do. I want to be done sooo bad. Yet, life is still evolving over here in GA and who knows where we will be 6 months from now. While spending my free time praying for a place we ended up getting a letter from a Realtor who represented the bank. She informed us that if we left the house in 14 days, the bank would offer us $2300 to help us with the move. Since we have now lost our deposit we did not want to loose this offer. So we searched and found a few places that could work out just right. We ended up moving in to a place across the street. They were willing to rent for 6 months and allowed us to have a dog. Their tenants moved mid contract and they needed someone in ASAP. We were glad to be the ones. We recruited some good men from our ward and were able to move most of our junk on a Saturday and than we have been working this past week on un-boxing and reorganizing. It was a pain and at first I was sad to leave the other place, but this place should work well for us. Before we moved we did ask the Realtor if she would ask the bank if we could stay and just pay rent to them, but they nixed that idea and told her to get us out. After we moved in, yet wasting another 3 weeks of my life packing and unpacking, we got a call from that same Realtor who is representing the bank, offering us $2,300 plus payment for all our moving expense and possibly a buy out of our new contract if we were willing to move back in. This has been a hassle and costly, but at this point we really didn't care what the bank offered to get us back in..we were done. I do wonder why they changed their mind. Unfortunately it was 13 days too late. Now besides our drama with our house we had a great vacation down in CA for Christmas and tons of fun in Washington D.C for thanksgiving.I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays too!

Carter's and Riley's Birthdays

My babies are growing up too fast. At times I wish I could just freeze time and keep them tiny forever, but than I would miss out on so much. Carter turned the big ONE September 28th. He has been such a wonderful addition to our family. He is sweet, easy going and full of smiles. Lately he just loves to climb.....on everything. At first I was excited to see him move his little body upon things. Now I am a bit fearful of what his next big climb will be. He has mastered the table, changing table, desk, toilet, tub and it looks like it won't be long before he is out of his crib. He is very stealth and quick in his climbing which has lead us to some close calls. He is just all boy and a complete opposite of his sister.

Now this year we celebrated Riley's 3rd birthday. She is at the point where she realizes what a birthday is. Which added so much more to the celebration. Weeks leading up to her birthday were filled with questions about it, what will we do, will she get presents, can she blow out the candle, how old was she turning, etc. I loved it, no coaching on my part to get her excited this year. We ended up celebrating her birthday three times. Once with her Nana who came in town to help me out with a prior surgery, than we threw her a princess party and lastly on Nov.4th we celebrated it with the family. When it came to her actual birthday, Nov. 4th, she grew a little agitated and was asking me why we were singing to her because she already had her birthday. She is just so cute and silly. It is just amazing how time flies by as an adult, but as a child I felt like time moved oh so slowly.I am happy that she is growing, I just wish time moved slower. By the way, I just love being a mom.

Birthdays Galore!

Well, we all celebrated our birthdays these last couple of months. Greg's was in August. We celebrated it with some of his favorite friends, his family. We had cake, some ice cream, and presents. This is when Riley first started to get excited about her birthday (which is in November).

Next we headed out to Mildgeville to celebrate Riley's cousin Jackson's birthday. Well, actually he is a 2nd cousin, but I feel that his mom, Kelly is just like a sister, so we consider him a cousin. Kelly's family just moved to GA to start a Little Ceaser Pizza business. We are excited for them on their new adventure, but we are even more excited to have family close by. They are going to be living in Augusta which is about 2 1/2 hours away. After two years living in the South and in the Midwest and having most of my family in Utah or CA, 2 1/2 hours is close.

Than came my Birthday, it was two days before I went into surgery. I was so worried about the sinus surgery, that I could hardly even enjoy it. Plus there was a whole list of things that I should not eat due to causing excess bleeding. The big highlight for me was the gift of my mother coming to visit to help with the kids after surgery and Greg got me tickets to Wicked!

About 5 days after my birthday, we stopped by one of our new Georgian friends to celebrate their daughters Birthday. Um...I m going to stop now. I would just save this post, but I am afraid all the pictures I have embedded into this post would be lost. So stayed tuned for more birthday stories(Carter's and Riley's Birthday)

I am definitely not much of a Blogger.

Ok so I love reading other peoples blog, but for some reason I hate doing it. Well, I don't hate it, it's just not a high priority of mine. Those quite moments I get when the kids are a sleep are usually filled with bills, random projects, cleaning, hanging out with Greg and calling family and friends. But I do want to post some catch up info on our family. It has been an active couple of months. We ended up celebrating everyone's birthday, starting in Aug (Greg's) than September (Carter and I) and November ( Riley's). Also during this time, I ended up having surgery, had a princess party for Riley and monster Party for Carter, cousin Brooklyn came for a visit, Kelly and Mark moved to Augusta,ga and I refinished some furniture for Rileys new bedroom. Lastly we have had yet another problem with a rental-MOLD!. Seriously, I cannot wait to be in a spot long enough to own a home. I plan on making a post for each event starting tomorrow.
